The World Energy Council’s annual assessment of country energy and climate policies in 2010 focused on identifying the challenges that national policymakers face in the pursuit of energy sustainability, the policy options available to them, and their preferred approaches.
The report, prepared with Oliver Wyman, determined that a country’s resource endowment, stage of economic development, and policy decisions dictate its sustainability profile.
This second annual assessment of country energy and climate policies includes the Energy Sustainability Index, which ranks countries in terms of their likely ability to provide a stable, affordable, and environmentally sensitive energy system.
