Matthew is a principal in our Transportation and Services Practice, based in New York City.

He advises leading passenger and freight transportation companies, including airlines, railroads and logistics operators, on their commercial strategy, network planning, and operations.

Matthew has worked in transportation since his graduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley. During this time, he was the lead author of peer-reviewed papers on topics such as airline competition and public transit pricing. With more than 10 years in consulting, Matthew has utilized his expertise in transportation network analytics and data-driven problem solving to assist clients across six continents. These clients range from those in the aviation industry to those involved with trains and trucks.

Seeing planes of an African national airline client in New York City, just a couple of years after working on their launch business plan and fleet acquisition, serves as a reminder that our work can have transformative impact and bring places closer together

At Oliver Wyman, he leads project teams supporting our transportation clients through some of their most challenging moments including multiple airline restructurings, operational transformations and strategic mergers and acquisitions. His goal is to find more efficient ways to bring people and places closer together, and get them there on time.

Outside of work, Matthew applies the same skills to address local transportation issues. He spent three years as a volunteer manager launching and leading the Prospect Heights Places Open Streets program. This initiative transforms six city blocks into a pop-up park and bicycle boulevard every summer weekend in Brooklyn, NY. Along with his wife, Matthew also enjoys escaping city life to spend time outdoors, whether it's paddling their canoe, skiing, or hillwalking.
