Oliver Wyman Vector Director, Barend is part of the acquisition and merging of SeaTec/Aerosoft Systems Inc., and currently leads the Mississauga branch in Canada, where he oversees a diverse team of graduates, developers, and engineers.

He is primarily focused on the development of maintenance and engineering (M&E) and content management system products for airline operators, maintenance, repair, and overhaul operators, and air taxi/air ambulance providers in North America, Europe, and Africa.

Ensuring that our clients obtain the correct solutions to support their everyday operations and address their challenges in an efficient and effective manner has always been an important motivator for me

Barend caught the aviation and aerospace bug when he visited the KLM Engineering facilities in Schiphol during his senior year of high school. After earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at KLM Engineering, he relocated to Austria, where he worked at a regional airline for a decade, managing the maintenance planning and control team of 20 planners and engineers while overseeing a mixed fleet of 45 regional aircraft. During that time, he also oversaw two M&E software implementations. He joined Aerosoft Systems Inc. in 2003, where he has held a variety of positions and responsibilities.

He is dedicated to the development of software products that support and meet the needs of customers all over the world. Being trilingual in English, Dutch, and German has also helped him deepen his cultural understanding while dealing with customers and suppliers from all over the world, as well as improving his cognitive talents such as problem solving, multitasking, and decision making.

When not working, Barend and his wife and daughter enjoy alpine summer and winter sports such as hiking, mountain biking, skiing, and tobogganing. They also enjoy the cultural and sporting offerings in Toronto and Canada, and make annual trips to Austria and the Netherlands to see family and friends.
