Whether it is working with state agencies and other insurers, or leveraging its network of community health centers, Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island is working hard to ensure that Medicaid beneficiaries understand their options as redeterminations continue.
“Our No. 1 mission in this entire redetermination process is to make sure people are covered, whether it’s in Medicaid, the (Affordable Care Act) Exchange, or an employer-based plan,” NHPRI CEO Peter Marino said in an Oliver Wyman Health interview.
That commitment to outreach and education permeates all of NHPRI’s programs, Marino said, adding that the insurer is focused on being member centric.
“We look at it not just as the individual but also the family unit,” he said. “Oftentimes, you have individuals who have children in Medicaid but the parent or parents might be in the Exchange. Making sure there’s some connection in that plan is really important.”
