All organizations care about their impact however for charities being able to measure and articulate the impact they create is key in demonstrating their effectiveness and improving access to much needed funding. Yet even though organizations care deeply about defining impact, the majority of charities do not keep track of various metrics, and instead continue to focus on measuring inputs and outputs.
We explore why this is by unpacking the challenge as well as providing pointers. Additionally, we share the experience of Jigsaw, a Social Impact client providing education, care, and support services for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Oliver Wyman supported them as they took their first steps towards measuring impact.
In this report we review the key to charity funding, the challenges organizations face, and how to get started capturing significant data points that will resonate with external stakeholders.
