The German banking market is about to undergo major disruptions. In 10-15 years, there will be just 150 to 300 banks left with a sustainable business model, as opposed to the current 1,600.
This change is caused by increasingly fierce competition, with more and more foreign banks, FinTechs, and global technology corporations entering the German banking business. At the same time, customers are becoming more demanding due to digitization and are expecting seamlessly integrated solutions which are easy to use.
The sustainable business models that we’ve developed for both an evolution and a disruption scenario will help banks to make better choices and align their abilities, investments, and operating models in a targeted manner.
