Rutger is a partner and head of Oliver Wyman’s Insurance and Asset Management Practice in the Americas, and the leader of the Deal-Driven Transformation specialization. He works with clients to help redefine their businesses, often through transformative structural and operating model changes.  

Rutger has more than 20 years of experience in organizational strategy, corporate culture, performance and effectiveness, and leading large-scale transformation programs for clients. He helps steer clients through complex transformation journeys, often on post-merger integrations, separations and divestitures, and organizational realignments intended to boost strategic and financial performance through new ways of working.

Rutger has been recognized as a “Top 100” leader by The Top 100 MagazineHe has led numerous studies and authored several articles on the importance of culture and how to shape behavior to deliver business performance.

Prior to joining Oliver Wyman in 2018, Rutger was a partner at Strategy& (formerly Booz & Company), the strategy consulting arm of PwC, in the Organization Strategy and Financial Services Practices. In addition to his client work, Rutger was the head of Strategy&’s Katzenbach Center for Organizational Performance and Effectiveness, the firm’s center of excellence on topics of organization and culture. Before Booz & Company, Rutger was part of the leading organizational strategy boutique, Katzenbach Partners (Katzenbach Partners was sold to Booz & Company in 2009).

He holds an MBA from INSEAD, and a BA in Government and International Relations from Georgetown University. Rutger was born in Stockholm, Sweden, raised in Southeast Asia, and has lived and worked in Europe, Asia, and across North America. He is fluent in English and Swedish, and proficient in French.

He lives in New York City with his wife and two daughters, and he serves on the boards of directors of the American Ballet Theatre and the American Scandinavian Foundation.
