Michael is a principal with Oliver Wyman's Transportation and Services, and Public Sector and Policy Practices.
He currently leads Oliver Wyman's office in Ottawa, Canada, where he provides strategic advice to senior government officials and decision makers in key sectors of the economy, including defense, aerospace, transportation, and emerging technology.
Michael is passionate about helping his clients achieve impact in dynamic and complex economic and geopolitical conditions.
Changing geopolitics, increasing competition, and the demand for more outputs with fewer resources are common features of the challenges our clients bring to us. To navigate these challenges, we focus on driving knowledge transfer on best practices and benchmarks and work with client teams pursuing significant return on investment and delivering value
Prior to joining Oliver Wyman, Michael led Avascent’s Canadian operations. He began his career as an infantry officer, including an operational deployment to Afghanistan. He later worked in government as an advisor to two Canadian ministers of national defense and then with Human Rights First, and the McCain Institute for International Leadership in the nonprofit sector. These varied experiences provide Michael with a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing policymakers, those implementing government programs, and those working with government.
Outside of work, Michael prioritizes spending time with his wife, son, and daughter. He’s currently pursuing his private pilot’s license and enjoys outdoors activities such as cycling, cross-country skiing, and hiking.
Michael holds a BA in History and Political Science from the University of Ottawa, an MA in International Affairs from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, an MBA from IE University in Madrid, and is a certified Project Management Professional.
