Justin’s advice for those beginning their actuarial journey is to keep an open mind and avoid too much concern over developing a specialization or particular area of expertise. Instead, focus on doing the absolute best at what you’re doing now while aiming to capitalize on the opportunities that present themselves along the way. The rest will work itself out. He recalls graduating into a challenging job market amidst the 2008-09 recession, and, while daunting at the time, it led him down a path that resulted in him doing what he loves every day: working with the brightest minds in the actuarial profession to help the world’s leading insurers meet their most complex modeling challenges.
