Jeff is a Partner with Oliver Wyman Actuarial and leader of the Princeton, New Jersey office. An expert in capital modeling, he helps clients understand the impact of strategic decisions on the adequacy of their current and future capital levels. With three decades of experience in actuarial work, including at a primary insurer, a reinsurer, and in consulting, he has a broad understanding of the insurance industry and risk transfer mechanisms.
Prior to joining Oliver Wyman, Jeff was a Senior Manager at another large consultancy, where his primary responsibilities included reviewing the adequacy of loss and loss adjustment expense reserves for numerous insurance companies, reinsurance companies, and self-insured clients.
Clients and colleagues appreciate Jeff’s ability to find the story underlying the results of their analysis. “We always look for creative ways to present results and provide additional insights to improve the value we bring to our clients on what can often be viewed as routine actuarial analyses,” he adds. The work he has done for clients has provided them with the tools and information to think more strategically and make informed management decisions.
A turning point came for Jeff when he began to appreciate that there is no “right” answer and that the value in actuarial analysis is often understanding and conveying where a range of assumptions may be reasonable and understanding the potential impact on the results from varying those critical assumptions.
Outside of Oliver Wyman, Jeff’s aspirations include travel, increasing his wine collection, and lowering his golf handicap. Jeff is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland.
