James is a Tech Lead at Oliver Wyman’s Digital Practice in Boston. He specializes in full-stack web applications, DevSecOps (development, security, and operations), architecture, infrastructure, platforms, as well as training and mentoring. As Head of DevSecOps, his goal is to help Oliver Wyman clients choose better technologies, take advantage of cloud offerings, and eliminate the barrier between operations and development. He aims to foster an approach to culture, automation, and platform design that integrates security as a shared responsibility throughout the entire IT lifecycle.
Our focus is on transforming our clients so that they can better solve their problems - and own these solutions.
James has over 20 years of experience working with web applications and development and holds a degree in computer engineering from the University of Rhode Island. His versatile skill set means that he can help his colleagues and clients with a variety of projects: from high-level architecture, to DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines, to low-level debugging, to strategy.
Sharing his knowledge is very important for James. Helping his colleagues learn, grow, and expand beyond their roles into new ones. When looking for new engineers to join the team, as well as when working with his colleagues, he tries to remember that there are two sides to a coin. One side is the typical technical angle: continuous learning and gaining practical experience. The second side of the coin is the non-technical: it’s the ability to see the forest for the trees, to understand how to properly apply tech within a given situation, to listen to clients and truly understand the goal and how to solve that, to continually find ways for teams to work better.
I love teaching, and being able to help someone this way is amazingly fulfilling.
