Gonzalo is a principal in our government and public institutions industry, with an additional focus on financial services and climate.
He began his journey at Oliver Wyman in 2013, joining the Madrid office during the restructuring of Spain’s financial sector following the financial crisis. From 2013 to 2019, Gonzalo worked with governments, corporates, and financial institutions across Spain, Greece, Portugal, South Africa, Germany, and Italy.
In 2019, he left Oliver Wyman to pursue an MBA at INSEAD Business School. Post-MBA, Gonzalo served as director of digital transformation at Banco Santander and later worked in a four-party task force comprising the Chamber of Commerce (representing the Spanish private sector), unions (representing workers), all Spanish regional governments, and the government of Spain to propose measures to mitigate the economic impact of COVID-19. After the COVID-19 crisis, Gonzalo returned to Oliver Wyman in 2022 to lead the government and public institutions industry in Spain and Portugal.
Public-private collaboration is essential to address the challenges of this millennium. No one — governments, businesses, or universities — can do it alone. I’m excited to lead Oliver Wyman Iberia’s efforts to drive transformative projects that create a positive impact in the societies we operate in
Gonzalo holds an MSc in Economics and Finance from UNAV-IESE Business School, an MBA from INSEAD, and an MC/MPA from Harvard Kennedy School.
