Bob is a senior advisor at Oliver Wyman. He is also the current chairman of UK Finance, where he represents the UK banking and finance sector with HM government and regulators.
He advises governments, supports entrepreneurs, and has spent 25 years in the banking industry, most recently as the chairman of Merrill Lynch for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and as a court member of the Bank of England during the global financial crisis.
Bob is passionate about growth businesses and focuses on digital and disruptive technologies including space tech, sustainability, the metaverse, and tokenizing the wholesale capital markets. He advises governments and chair commissions for governments, most recently including the Green Investment Bank Commission for the UK Government.

Bob has completed three years as an adjunct professor at the University of Queensland, is a visiting fellow at Oxford University’s Said Business School, and is an honorary fellow at Cambridge University’s Judge Business School.
In his spare time, Bob works with St John Ambulance’s development team, is vice patron of the Royal Marines Charity, and sits on the Cancer Research UK Corporate Board. He also enjoys playing squash, padel, and tennis, and has composed classical music. Bob has also written a book about the effect of technology on Generation Z.
