He began his career at a global consulting firm, where he was part of several multi-year transformation programs focusing on growth through new channel development, customer experience redesign, and process transformations. His work with financial services players on digital innovation led to several industry firsts. He also led multiple post-merger integrations across telecom and financial services and pioneered a rapid reorganization program to accelerate the transition from deal completion to a functioning merged entity.
As the head of strategy for one of India’s oldest diversified conglomerates, he helped craft a new vision and identified new opportunities for diversification across the group. He was instrumental in setting up a corporate venture capital fund and a specialty e-commerce business incubated internally.
At the Indian subsidiary of one of the largest media companies in the world, he held multiple roles central to driving several core elements of the business. He was part of several market-disrupting initiatives, ranging from the largest media property in the country to building one of the world’s first at-scale cross-screen (broadcast television and OTT) ad-planning and measurement platforms.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur.
In his spare time, Avartan spreads his enthusiasm for problem-solving as a visiting faculty member at one of the premier institutes in Mumbai. He loves building new businesses and has also run his own firm in the health food space. Avartan enjoys spending time with his family and with a myriad of musical instruments that he has been attempting to learn over the last two decades.
