We’re proud to share that Oliver Wyman Partner Rama Gollakota has been included in the Empower 100 Executives Role Model List 2023. This recognition is for efforts in promoting racial and ethnic diversity and inclusion, both within and outside the workplace.
In addition to being a partner at Oliver Wyman, Rama is the regional lead of EMPOWERED in Asia Pacific. EMPOWERED is the firm’s employee resource group that promotes a collaborative, safe, and comfortable workplace for all colleagues by combining the Ethnic Diversity strategy with grassroots priorities. EMPOWERED also promotes recognition of indigenous communities through the ‘Acknowledgment of Country’ in regular course of business and supporting remote indigenous communities through charitable giving. More recently, the group has been supporting the development of Oliver Wyman’s Reconciliation Action Plan for Australia and the Pacific Islands, and celebrating cultural and religious festivals.
My experience as a second-generation immigrant working my way through the predominantly Anglo European ranks of Australian businesses has shaped my leadership. Consultants of sub-continental background are generally underrepresented and misunderstood in Australia.
