Syed is a partner in our Financial Services Practice and also leads our office in Bahrain.
With extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, Syed brings a wealth of expertise across the financial services industry. In the private sector, he has worked on insurance strategy design and business plan development for both private participants and regulators. This work spans various lines of business, including life, health, and property and casualty insurance.
Syed’s work has a global reach, covering multiple regions such as Western and Eastern Europe, as well as the GCC. He has also spearheaded large-scale transformations, including the development of digital operating models for InsurTech startups.

In the public sector, Syed has supported regional finance ministries in delivering fiscal programs aimed at diversifying government revenues and streamlining expenses. His notable projects include the establishment of a new insurance regulator and the introduction of VAT in a GCC country, achieved through a comprehensive multi-year engagement.
Syed holds a BSc with Honors in Management from the London School of Economics. Prior to joining Oliver Wyman, he spent several years in investment banking. His diverse experience enables him to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and deliver innovative solutions for clients.
Outside of work, Syed spends most of his time with his family and, when the weather permits, he enjoys playing cricket and golf.
