Sydney, January 31, 2022 - Oliver Wyman today announced the appointment of Lyn Cobley as Senior Advisor. Ms. Cobley, ex-Westpac Institutional Bank Chief Executive, will work closely with the Oliver Wyman team in Australia to drive real change in sustainability, particularly in the wholesale and institutional space.
“We’re thrilled and proud to welcome Lyn to Oliver Wyman as a Senior Advisor. Lyn’s talent and deep banking and financial services experience complement Oliver Wyman’s expertise and capabilities in financial services,” said Jacob Hook, Oliver Wyman’s Asia-Pacific Managing Partner.
“She brings over 30 years of experience in senior positions at some of the world’s top banks, enhancing our ability to support clients who are facing opportunities and challenges when it comes to sustainability in an advisory capacity. Moreover, Lyn’s appointment both positions us well for, and cements Oliver Wyman’s continued growth trajectory in Australia. I’m delighted that we’ve been able to attract such high calibre talent,” he added.
“I wanted to utilize my skills and experience in this next stage of my career to make a difference, particularly when it comes to sustainability and climate action. This is why I took this opportunity to work with Oliver Wyman as they play a global role in the climate agenda as seen in their recent work with Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero, Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure and many more industry initiatives,” said Lyn Cobley.
“I’m quite familiar with Oliver Wyman and the great work they do, particularly in the financial services space. Oliver Wyman is one of those participants in the market that helps organizations articulate the how with practical know-how,” she added.
Lyn Cobley has extensive global banking experience in senior leadership positions in international and domestic financial institutions, as well as experience in the start-up community. Her breadth of expertise includes strategy and leadership, people and culture, transformation and technology, finance and risk, crisis management, investor and regulatory relations, and navigating complexity in high-profile and regulated industries. Past roles have included as CEO of Westpac Institutional Bank, Chair of Westpac Asia’s Advisory Board, Group Treasurer of CBA, Head of Retail Products in CBA, and roles in Barclays and Citibank.
Cobley is a member of Chief Executive Women, Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Cobley’s other notable roles include having been a board member of the Australian Financial Markets Association, the Banking & Finance Oath, and the Westpac Foundation.
